The market
With around 410,000 residents, the Märkischer Kreis is the most populous region of the Sauerland — shaped by a strong industrial mid-sized economy between Iserlohn, Lüdenscheid and the Lenne valley. The markets differ considerably: Iserlohn and Menden orient themselves towards the Ruhr area, Lüdenscheid is the centre of the southern district, and alongside them are many ownership-dominated smaller towns and municipalities.
The medians of the official guideline land values (Bodenrichtwerte) for residential land range from around €88/m² in Nachrodt-Wiblingwerde to €180/m² in Iserlohn; owner-occupancy rates lie between 36% in Lüdenscheid and around 60% in Herscheid. What is sold here is often the family home or the house with a large plot — decisions that deserve time.
